What is Reiki?
The word Reiki is the Japanese term which translates to "universal
life energy."
(Rei - Universal, Ki - Energy)
Re-attuning a person to this universal life force enables them to
promote the natural healing process of their own body on all
levels: physical, mental, spiritual and emotional.
Reiki enhances well-being, elevates general energy levels,
reduces stress and stimulates the body's immune system into
self-healing.
During a treatment the harmonizing Reiki energy is
radiating from the practicioner's hands which are placed lightly
and gently on the patient's body. This is a non-invasive
treatment where the person is fully clothed, lying on the massage
table. Reiki is different from massage and other
manipulating therapies as the hands remain still and it can be
given through clothing or even a plaster cast. The energy
flow is very subtle. Most patients experience heat or
tingling sensations during the treatment and feel very relaxed and
balanced afterwards.
A Reiki treatment usually lasts one hour during which time
the hands are moved to a new position approzimately every five
minutes, giving the overall physiological benefits of three to four
hours of deep sleep.
